Our Story

The Idea

How did Artēgan begin? The Artēgan idea was actually born over 20 years ago in a coffee shop in Auburn, Alabama, when Ronnie Cook and Warren Page shared their mutual desire to do something exceptional to serve the Senior Industry.

The conversation happened when both were working for the same senior living organization. While sharing responsibilities at a residential community the conversation turned to creating their own senior living company. Their goal was to create a unique product and environment for the elderly and the trusted people who serve them. What did unique mean? They weren’t sure but they wanted their conversation of “shared vision” to continue.

The Experience

While constantly growing their leadership responsibilities, Ronnie and Warren continued to work in the senior industry. They enthusiastically gained experience at every level. Leading their companies they found they were making a difference on a much larger scale. For Ronnie and Warren their work had meaning and great value to families.

The Move

Shortly thereafter Ronnie joined a company in Washington State and moved his family across the country. Ronnie needed a great COO and he knew just who to call. So Warren moved his family to Oregon and In December of 2006 he joined Ronnie as his trusted COO.

Becoming Owners

As time went on Warren saw an opportunity to acquire two Senior Living Communities. He and Ronnie finally became “owners” themselves. They realized their first idea back at the coffee shop would become a reality.

What’s in a Name?

What to rename the company based on their shared vision and values? The Latin word “Artēgan” represents harmony of place, beauty and values. Artēgan would be a company of value and would embrace a behavior and a culture. Artēgan’s mission statement is simple: “Celebrating the Art of Life.” What a perfect name for a company that provides employment and service in each town in which it operates. Artēgan teams work hard to reflect the values of their home communities. We are ready to live the mission and so are our employees, residents and families.

The Future

So, Artēgan…Celebrating the Art of Life, a company built by families for families. Life is worth celebrating at any age. Warren and Ronnie continue to build Artēgan around the people they serve and the people who provide that service.
